Turkey expands UNESCO World Heritage List
Did you know that Turkey has been added to the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage and on April 16, 5 more historical attractions were added?!
So they added to the world cultural values:
Beypazari Tarihli Kent Beypazari in Ankara is an ancient city, which is located 100 km from Ankara, and has its own history since the times of the Hets. At one time, the Romans and the Byzantines, the Seljuks and the Ottomans and now the modern Turks traded on the streets of Beypazari. The city was strategically important militarily and the Great Silk Road stretched through it. Now it has almost been preserved in the same form as it was under the Ottoman Empire. There are many small streets lined with cobblestones and around there are traditional low houses made of stone and wood in the classic Ottoman style.
Koramaz Vadisi in the Koramaz valley in Kayseri, which was formed in ancient times as a result of an earthquake and has a length of 12 km. There are still 7 residential settlements in the valley, which were inhabited during the Byzantine times. And this is evidenced by 38 churches carved into the rocks, with unique frescoes inside. Even now, people living in this valley live their own identity far from the modern material world. There are also many mansions and houses in the valley built during the Ottoman Empire with their special style. Personally, I can’t wait to go there on a trip, I adore such places, and I think you already know about it)) İzmir Tarihi Liman Kenti - The historical port in Izmir - begins its history from Hellenistic times. In its place there was an interweaving of many cultures, religions and traditions. And in Ottoman times, it was of particular strategic importance both in military and commercial affairs. And walking along the port in Izmir you can feel all its power.
Karatepe-Aslantaş Arkeolojik Alanı is an archaeological site in Karatepe-Aslantaş. On this territory they found the remains of an ancient Khet fortress, with many unique ancient values. Excavations in this area continue to this day.
Zerzevan Kalesi ve Mithraeum namely Zerzevan Castle, also known as Samati Castle located in Diyarbakir. This is one of the best preserved ancient Roman military garrisons, where above-ground and underground structures of the Roman army's dwellings were also found.
