Where is it cheaper to live - Antalya or Alanya

Where is it cheaper to live - Antalya or Alanya

Housing

Alanya

Housing in Alanya is cheaper than in Antalya or Istanbul. Even for amounts up to €50 thousand there are many interesting objects. Namely, a good and liquid apartment on the secondary market in Mahmutlar in a building built in the 2000s. The property will be spacious, close to the sea (maximum 500 meters) and all social infrastructure. Possibly with furniture and appliances.

Antalya

The cost of apartments in residential buildings in the central part of Antalya is noticeably cheaper than in other areas of the city. The atmosphere here is almost the same as in any medium-sized city. Access to the sea depends on where you live. The noise level is naturally higher than in non-central areas, and the buildings are denser. Busy traffic, a large number of pedestrians and not as fresh air as in Lara or Konyaalti make central real estate cheaper.

Cafes and restaurants

Alanya

In Alanya, as throughout Turkey, the food is incredibly tasty, and quite familiar to residents of other countries. Now more and more restaurants and cafes are opening in the city, serving dishes familiar to post-Soviet countries, but nothing like this can be found in stores.

Antalya

Perhaps the largest number of restaurants, cafes and other establishments where you can eat well in Antalya are concentrated in the city center: in the Marina port area, in the old town of Kaleici, in Isiklar, in Ataturk Park.

Beaches

Alanya

Tourist prices mean that a dish with meat or chicken can cost 30-50 liras. You can eat anything: kebab, pizza, salad, pasta, ice cream, soup and other dishes. Almost all cafes have free Wi-Fi.

Antalya

There are practically no beaches within Antalya, since the coastline within the city consists of high and inaccessible cliffs. You can swim only in suburban areas: Konyaalti in the west, as well as Lara, Aksu and Kundu in the east. There are sandy beaches there.

Job

Alanya

Local salaries are average as in Turkey, naturally they are lower than in Istanbul or Antalya. In the tourism industry, a person can earn about a thousand dollars a month. In winter, tourism practically disappears.

Antalya

There is especially a lot of work in Antalya and other resort cities. Many of these jobs require a good command of spoken English or Turkish. Salaries in the tourist services sector average $400-700.

Standard of living

Alanya

Alanya attracts tourists from many European countries, including Russia, with its inexpensive real estate, reasonable prices and high service in hotels; the local cuisine and archaeological sites are interesting here. The standard of living in Alanya is generally at a high level, which, however, is typical for any resort areas in Turkey; on this piece of land in Turkey, as in a third world country, real Europe opens up, while prices remain low in comparison with Europe, local salaries are at level with Eastern Europe, there are cheap prices for fruits and vegetables that are available all year round.

Antalya

The standard of living in Antalya is quite high not only in comparison with the CIS countries, but also with many European ones. The system of preschool, school and higher education is well developed here. Young people from all over the world come to study at Turkish universities. Training takes place not only in Turkish, but also in English, German and even Russian.

Urban transport

Alanya

There are 21 city bus routes in Alanya - by public transport you can get to almost anywhere in the city or to adjacent villages and resorts. The schedule of the required bus can be found below, where is the route map. Buses run from 6:30 to 24:00. It is possible to rent a car and also use taxi services.

Antalya

Antalya has well-developed public transport: buses, trams, taxis. Buses have an extensive route network that covers all areas of the city. The modern AntRay tram line runs through the very center and connects the Fatih and Aksu districts. The Nostalgie tram has a short route through the Old Town. For individual trips over short distances it is convenient to use a taxi. If you plan to travel a lot on your own, it makes sense to rent a personal car, which is much cheaper than using a taxi.

Weather and climate

Alanya

Alanya has a Mediterranean subtropical climate, which creates comfortable weather throughout the year. It is noteworthy that due to the location of the resort on the southern Turkish coast, washed by the warm Mediterranean Sea, the temperature of both water and air here is always two to three degrees higher compared to other resorts in Turkey.

Meteorologists note that the average annual temperature in Alanya is +20 degrees, and air humidity is about 65%. The sea water temperature varies depending on the time of year and fluctuates between approximately +17+19 degrees from December to May, and +25+27 from June to November.

Antalya

The climate in Antalya is either subtropical or Mediterranean. The probability of rain in summer is close to zero; precipitation is typical only in winter. But, nevertheless, the winter is quite warm. Since Antalya is surrounded by mountains, there is no place for strong winds, which makes the weather very mild and “welcoming”.

The city's humidity is high (about 65-70%), and the water temperature rarely drops below +17-20 degrees. The weather is favorable for beach holidays and allows you to swim from the beginning of April! The most resort time in Antalya is in July and August. The velvet season occurs from the beginning of October to the middle (and sometimes the end) of November. At this time, the sun is gentle and the sea is warm.

Celebrating festivals

Alanya

The annual tourism and arts festival hosts many cultural and entertainment events. During the international jazz festival takes place annually in mid-September near the Red Tower on the embankment. The festival is organized by the Alanya Municipality, private and tourist organizations. Visitors can stroll by the sea in the evening to the sounds of jazz. And all this is free. International opera and ballet performers participate in the international opera and ballet festival.

Alanya's entertainment is not limited to these festivals. Every year there are many other interesting events that you can attend if you come to Turkey.

Antalya

The city comes alive in a new way during religious celebrations. The “Flower Festival” takes place at a time when everything around is in bloom - in May. A major “Opera and Ballet Festival” takes place in June near Antalya in the Aspendos Amphitheater. The “sweet” month of August is the time of the “Honey Festival”. And the brightest event, which marks the end of the holy Ramadan, occurs in September-October. Also in September, the 18-day Antalya Festival takes place, which is dedicated to the culture and development of the city.

What to choose

If we reduce the choice to the level of prices for hotels, housing and transport, then Alanya in this regard will look more attractive than Antalya. In addition, it has tens of kilometers of beautiful sandy beaches. But it is inferior to Antalya in terms of nightlife and shopping, and you will also have to make transfers to get there.
