The rights of foreigners in Turkey - to which the state "gives good"
The rights of foreigners in Turkey - to which the state "gives good"
How often do we hear that foreigners in Turkey have no rights, that everything here will be taken away, taken away, left without pants. But is it really? After all, today, guests from abroad are very actively moving to Turkey, investing in real estate. Are foreigners in Turkey without rights, as they try to convince us?
Travel, live, work
All foreigners who come to Turkey on vacation can stay here for permanent residence. Moreover, the right to obtain a residence permit is available to almost all foreign guests. The only exceptions are violators of the visa regime and those who have any problems with the law. A residence permit may be issued on the basis of a lease, the purchase of real estate in Turkey or a marriage with a citizen of the South Republic.
All foreigners can freely move around Turkey, going to those cities where they want. Simply put, you can travel around Turkey for your own pleasure, especially since you do not have to worry about your safety here. Turks are very friendly and respectful of visiting guests.
Foreigners can also get a job in Turkey. The truth for this will have to issue the so-called çalışma izin. This is done by the employer, and the blue card gives citizens of other states the same rights as the Turks: to work, use state insurance (which, by the way, covers much more than private insurance), receive pension deductions.
And if you work out five years of work permit, you can apply for Turkish citizenship.
Is the property owner no longer a foreigner?
Citizens of other countries who bought an apartment in Turkey can automatically apply for a residence permit. But if you draw up documents on the basis of a lease, a foreigner receives a tourist ikamet, then property owners are investors. And they have more rights than tenants.
For example, the owner of an apartment or villa in Turkey can bring the whole family to the sea for permanent residence or on a long vacation. The state gives the right to issue ikamet closest relatives: spouses, children, as well as parents.
After five years of owning real estate and permanent residence in Turkey, the investor has the right to apply for citizenship.
Owners of both tourist and residence permit, issued on the basis of ownership of real estate, can get a private insurance, as well as SGK, the second gives the right to use the services of Turkish hospitals under the same conditions as the citizens of the South Republic.
Having a residence permit, foreigners can also send their children to study at state (free) Turkish schools and kindergartens. And foreign children, in turn, will study in the same class with Turkish children.
With a residence permit, you can apply for a work permit. True, the employer must do this. By the way, without having a card - ikamet, you can get a work visa only at the Turkish consulate in your home country.
Same rights as Turkish citizens
It is worth saying that a residence permit in Turkey gives foreigners almost all the rights that Turkish citizens have. Of course, a foreign citizen cannot vote, stand for a political position and work without çalışma izin.
A foreigner can open an account in any Turkish bank, make a deposit, and under the same conditions as a Turkish citizen, and receive interest. And his contribution will also be protected by the state, as well as the contributions of local residents. A national of another country can even get a loan to buy an apartment, villa or land in Turkey.
A foreigner can get Turkish driving license by registering for a driving school and successfully passing the police exam. And maybe exchange your certificate for a Turkish sample document.
Foreigners have the right to enroll in Turkish universities, and the conditions for admission for them are much more loyal than for Turkish citizens.
Law on the side of foreigners
There are all sorts of situations in traveling. As they say, to think better about the good, but you have to be ready for everything. If there are problems with the law, for example, in the case of arrest, it is necessary to know that foreigners, both victims and accused, have the right to a free state lawyer. So, during the interrogation and testimony, you can safely ask for a public defender. A foreigner is also entitled to an interpreter. You must agree, few travelers know Turkish.
By the way, a foreigner can apply to the police, even if the petition is addressed to a Turkish citizen.
And you should always know that the law is the same, both for Turkish citizens and for foreigners. And Themis does not differentiate between nationalities.
It turns out that a foreigner in Turkey is legally protected no less than a native resident of the South Republic. And a foreigner is not powerless in Turkey, as they sometimes try to prove it to us.
