Turkey's economy - what does the country live in addition to Tourism ?!
A great many of us used to think that Turkey is a country that lives solely due to tourism, that the notorious all inclusive is the main source of income, and the only source from which the state’s treasury receives money.
And this is one of the main stereotypes, which, at times, is not so easy to eradicate.
Let's see, the country really lives for that. And is it really "everything will go to ashes" if the flow of tourists decreases
Foreign tourists - hope and support
It is impossible to deny the fact that the lion's share in the state treasury of Turkey brings such a field as tourism. But again, this figure hardly exceeds 50%.
Moreover, tourism is actively developing not only on the Mediterranean coast. The Aegean side, Istanbul, and, surprisingly, the east (about which everyone claims that it is not safe there) is very popular with holidaymakers. But if you go to Cappadocia, Mardin, Gaziantep, then you can meet groups of tourists from Europe, China, Korea and other countries. So, as they say, CIS is not alone Turkey is fed.
And Turkey ranks second in Europe in the number of thermal springs with healing water. And this is not only familiar to all of Pamukkale. There are thermal spas in Afyon, Bursa and other cities of the Southern Republic.
By the way, Turkey is among the five most popular holiday destinations in the world.
Automotive and industry - engines of the Turkish economy
The second line in the state budget is industry.
Who among us is not familiar with Turkish jeans, T-shirts, towels. In Turkey, they sew a lot and sew quality, from their own cotton, which is grown here. And sew and send for export, as little-known brands, and popular brands, such as ADL, WAIKIKI and so on.
And today, Turkish textiles are rightfully considered one of the best and most inexpensive in the world.
There are 17 automotive plants in Turkey. Here they collect Renault, Fiat, Citroen, Opel, Toyota and other brands.
And today, Turkey is the largest supplier of cars to European countries. For example, Japan and South Korea were on the second and third lines, respectively.
By the way, Turkey is far from new to this business. The automotive industry began to develop here in the 60s of the last century.
Since Turkey is a country located in a mountainous area, the mining industry is very developed here. Marble, chrome, barite and pumice are mined here. They are also exported to other countries, getting a good income.
And of course, do not forget about the chemical industry. Turkey is one of the largest producers of plastics in the world. It also produces paints and agricultural fertilizers.
The third item of income - tomatoes and nuts
All who have been on the Antalya coast, saw how, landing, the plane rushes over hundreds of greenhouses. And along the roads stretched orange, pomegranate, tangerine orchards.
But the largest plantations are cereals. Turkey exports wheat, barley and other crops.
Also in the South Republic grow nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, and others), olives, corn, figs, apricots, peaches, melons, melons, and many other delicious fruits and vegetables.
Today, Turkish agriculture is about a quarter of the country's GDP. And all this is grown not only for the domestic market, but also for export. And yes, in Turkey in shops and especially in the markets they sell mostly local vegetables and fruits. Only a small fraction is occupied by imported agricultural products.
And other items of income of the Turkish Republic ...
Do not forget such an item of income as the production of household appliances and electronics. Yes, yes, not everyone is taking from China and Japan. There are also their own brands in the South Republic - these are Arçelik, Beko, Vestel and other lesser-known brands. Moreover, Turkey produces equipment not only for the "local" consumer. Refrigerators, stoves, televisions and other "utensils" are sent for sale in other countries.
So, as they say, not only tourism lives Turkey. And it is worth noting that the authorities of the country pay much attention to the development of such industries as industry and agriculture.
