Adaptation in Turkey - how to join the Eastern life

Any relocation, be it to another city, to another country implies that after the period of insane joy from the step, the adaptation period begins. And it can last not even several months, but several years. At the same time take place in several stages.
How to facilitate adaptation when moving to Turkey? Let's talk about it.

Euphoria and rose-colored glasses
The first stage, through which any immigrant has to go, is euphoria because it finally managed to make an important step towards his dream. Those who just move to live in Turkey immediately put on rose-colored glasses, close their eyes to all the flaws and flit on the wings of happiness.
Of course, the cherished dream of finding a place under the southern sun, living by the sea, has finally been fulfilled.
It’s as if the man is driven by the motto: “There are no barriers for me, because I could, I did it!”
Unfortunately, this stage is perhaps the shortest. Some psychologists assign him only 6 weeks. But it can sometimes last several months. It all depends on the person and his attitude to reality.

Disappointment

When the first period ends, the emigrant takes off his rose-colored glasses and looks at the country where he will now have to live in a new way.
Disadvantages, drawbacks, and so strive to get out, as if shouting: "Hey, did you think everything would be perfect?" No matter how ”
The emigrant begins to compare: how it was at home, and how it is now in the South Republic, in a new country. Unfortunately, usually at such times conclusions are made not in favor of a new place of residence.
Absolutely everyone passes through this stage. The main thing is to survive it, do not turn back.
It is worth knowing that when a migrant faces domestic difficulties, he may even feel his inferiority, he seems to be at ease and unable to solve anything.
At this stage, even the beloved Turkey, and such a beautiful city like Alanya or Antalya may seem wrong, stereotypical, and even filled with aggression towards foreigners. But it just needs to be experienced.

Throw everything and leave
The period when the emigrant begins, clutching his head, to regret his deed, or rather, about moving. When everything in your favorite country is no longer nice. And even the sea no longer looks so azure, and the mountains are majestic and green. When it seems that all the Turks seemed to be up in arms against you. When you do not see any advantages, some disadvantages.
This is the most difficult stage. It does not happen to everyone. But if it happens - the main thing is not to break. After all, this is the very moment of crisis, when you want to drop everything and leave.

Acceptance
At this stage, the emigrant begins to accept the shortcomings that previously seemed to him, as they say, out of the ordinary.
The accumulated problems are beginning to be solved, and black clouds looming on the horizon as if turn into light fluffy clouds.
Domestic difficulties no longer seem insurmountable. The emigrant has a desire to open the country from new sides. Travel, get to know the culture. And you can just laugh at many situations.

Integration

This is the last stage of adaptation, when a foreigner joins the culture of a previously foreign country.
Now, communication with the locals does not cause discomfort, everyday difficulties are solved on “one-two”.
A person again likes the country where he moved, but at the same time he is able to critically evaluate everything that is happening around him.
Well, the foreigner himself becomes stronger and more enduring, and, finally, he finds long-awaited happiness.

How to facilitate the adaptation when moving to Turkey
In order to facilitate the adaptation after moving to a new country, so to speak, to quickly reach the finish (integration stage), there are several ways:

  • Communicate more with the locals. Do not limit yourself to meetings and conversations with compatriots. After all, it will be simply impossible to learn a new culture. Yes, and the Turks, if you communicate with them, will no longer seem foreigners with whom you can not find a common language.
  • Find a hobby associated with the local culture. In Alanya, the city administration organizes local courses for learning languages, handicrafts, cooking. To sign up for such lessons need a residence permit. At such courses you can not only learn something new, but also make acquaintances, find friends and
    learn more about Turkish culture.
  • Try to speak as much as possible in Turkish. This will help to quickly increase vocabulary, and therefore, to understand everything that is happening around, and not suspect the locals in conspiracies against foreigners.
  • Watch more local channels. Yes, yes, this is necessary in order to be aware of everything that is happening.
  • Travel more to fill yourself with positive emotions, to learn new facets of the South Republic, especially since there really is something to see in Turkey.
  • Make plans and set new goals. After all, if there is a goal, then there will be a way.

Well and most importantly, of course, do not give up, remember that thousands of people have gone through this path before you, and now they happily live in their own house by the sea, in a sunny country. But in general, it is much easier to move when there is property in Turkey. After all, as they say, houses and walls help.
