Not long ago, a new investment program began to operate in Turkey, the essence of which is that foreign citizens can apply for citizenship of the country by investing certain financial resources in its economy. This also includes purchasing real estate.

When registering ownership of a house or apartment, it is important to understand the difference between citizenship and residence permit (RP). The difference is that to obtain a residence permit, it is enough to purchase any real estate and periodically renew it on the basis of a certificate of ownership. But if you purchase housing for $400 thousand or more, you can immediately obtain Turkish citizenship.
The procedure for obtaining citizenship is quite simple. The sequence of collecting the package of documents is as follows: first you need to evaluate the property being purchased and make an official transaction, taking into account exchange rates. Immediately after this, documents are collected to obtain Turkish citizenship:
- application in several copies;
- medical reports on health status;
- passports and birth certificates;
- children's birth certificates;
- marriage certificates;
- certificate of family composition;
- certificate of no criminal record.
In addition, you will need a certificate of ownership and a document confirming the fulfillment of investment obligations. The certificate indicates that the applicant has fulfilled the terms of the program: he paid the required amount.
Next, they submit documents for a residence permit, and all applicants must be present. At the same time, you can submit an application and other documents for obtaining citizenship. The period for making a decision by the Turkish side is no more than 3 months.
Since dual citizenship is allowed in Turkey, when obtaining it you will not need papers on the termination of the previous passport.
