10 best beaches in Turkey. Review of beaches between Bodrum and Alanya

South-west Turkey is one of the best tourist beach resorts in Europe, especially along the turquoise coast between Bodrum and Alanya.
With the magnificent Aegean and Mediterranean seas lapping the western and southwestern coasts, Turkey has no shortage of beautiful beaches. With gently sloping shores tucked between towering cliffs, quiet coves shaded by ancient ruins and fresh sea breezes ideal for windsurfing, it's not hard to find a beach in Turkey that suits your tastes perfectly.

1. Kaputas Beach.

Situated between two picturesque cliffs along the road between Kalkan and Kas, Kaputas Beach looks like a perfect advertising photo with turquoise Mediterranean water and pristine yellow sand. Although this beach is small, it is very popular due to its convenient location close to the main road. Since the beach is located at the foot of high cliffs (from here there are many stairs going down), the noise from the road does not interfere with the enjoyment of relaxation and swimming.

2. Valley of the Butterflies.

Butterfly Valley Beach is located near the village of Faraliya, accessible only by boat or by a steep cliff descent. The clear turquoise waters and lush nature attract many tourists. Since the valley is a protected natural area, in order to preserve the natural habitat of rare butterflies and other insects, a fee has been introduced to go up or down to the beach. However, boat excursions depart daily from the port in Oludeniz, including a stop at the beach, or you can take a regular boat taxi. Tour operators will also pick you up from any hotel in Fethiye.

3. Olympos.

Ideal for laid-back travelers who want to stay in a secluded, rustic treehouse, the beach at Olympos is a quiet and beautiful location. The bay has calm water and a comfortable sandy beach. Ancient historical ruins can be explored nearby in the dense forests. Olympos Beach is located on the Lycian Way, so there are plenty of interesting walking routes in the area for those wanting to explore more extensively.

4. Patara Beach.

Patara Beach is the longest stretch of sand in Turkey, and one of the few for which you need to buy an entrance ticket (5 Turkish lira). This is because the beach is adjacent to extensive Lycian ruins, which together form a well-preserved open-air museum. Patara is one of the protected nesting sites for Caretta turtles and visitors are asked to place umbrellas at least 20 meters from the water to protect their nests.

5. Oludeniz.

This pretty village is just a few minutes' drive from Fethiye, one of Turkey's most famous beaches. The long curve of sandy white shore against the azure waters was called the blue lagoon. It is actually part of the Oludeniz Nature Park. The long beautiful coastline and almost constantly blowing winds have made Oludeniz a popular holiday destination for vacationers and paragliders who admire the view of the beach from above.

6. Ovabuku beach.

This quiet beach on the Datca Peninsula seems like it could be a refuge from all problems. The rolling landscape of pine-capped hills and olive groves gives way to the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea. If you come all the way here, be sure to head an additional 38 kilometers west to visit the famous ruins of Knidos.

7. Iztuzu Beach (Dalyan).

Iztuzu Beach, also known as the nesting site of Caretta turtles, is located on a narrow strip of land separating the Mediterranean Sea from the Dalyan River. To protect the turtles, the beach is closed to night swimming, but this tranquil cove is accessible to tourists during the day.

8. Limanagzy (Kash).

This tiny cove opposite Kas's main harbor can only be reached by boat (or on foot), making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With a cozy beach with sun loungers and a small bar to buy drinks, Limanagzi is a great place for a relaxing swim throughout a long day.

9. Cleopatra Beach (Alanya).

Alanya is one of the most visited holiday destinations in southwest Turkey, and Cleopatra Beach is its pearl. The main advantage is that the beach is located near the city center, which makes it one of the most convenient and accessible for swimming. Beach cafes and restaurants line the shore, and there are plenty of water sports opportunities.

10. Alacati.

Alacati Beach, located on the Cesme Peninsula, is best known for water sports enthusiasts - windsurfing and kitesurfing. Thrill seekers come here to take advantage of the gusty winds blowing from the Aegean Sea. There are plenty of beach clubs, as well as calmer coves where you can relax by the clear waters. The town of Alacati is paved with cobblestones and charms with brightly blooming bougainvillea trees. Come to Alanya, buy an apartment through our agency Maxhome Invest.
